“My daddy never did get what he wanted, but he had what he needed. He had love! He never lost sight of what was really important and neither will I!”
―Tiana to Dr. Facilier while regarding her father.
Tiana Rogers is the titular protagonist of Disney's 2009 animated feature film The Princess and the Frog. She is a gifted cook living in New Orleans during the Jazz Age, with a dream of opening a restaurant of her own. In a desperate attempt to achieve her goal, Tiana shares a kiss with a prince that had been magically transformed into a frog by a voodoo witch doctor. In doing so, however, Tiana also falls victim to the frog spell, setting off on an adventure in the bayou to find a way to break it.
Tiana is loosely based on the unnamed princess from the Brothers Grimm fairy tale The Frog Prince and Princess Emma from E.D. Baker's novel The Frog Princess. She is the ninth official Disney Princess and also the last and most recent to originate from a traditionally-animated film.
